Soldiers of tomorrow: Army recruitment drive in Lucknow for girls gets significant response


“A passion for the Army courses through my blood,” she says. “This is the best way to serve the country. I will keep trying as long as I am of eligible age”, says Pratima, whose mother kept a bag filled with dry fruits just for her every morning as she returned from practice.

“If I can make it to this high rank from such humble beginnings, there is no reason why others like me cannot”.

New Delhi : On September 14 this year , a 19-year-old Dalit Women was allegedly gangraped in Uttar Ptradesh's Hathras by 4 Upper-Caste men. The Incident caused Widespread outrage and brought the focus on just how purvasive sexual violence against Women is in our country. The Women Sustained several injuries and died nearly 14 days later . To make matter Worse , the police cremated her in the dead of night without the knowledge and family's Consent .   The Supreme Court termed the incident ' Horrible and Shocking ' while hearing a plea for probe by the CBI and SIT into the alleged gangrape on Tuesday. However, this isn’t the lone incident that has shaken up the country. Several incidences like Nirbhaya rape case (2012), Unnao rape case (2017), Kathaua rape case (2018) and the Hyderabad rape cum murder case (2019) expose the grim reality of bestial sexual crimes against women in the country. Four men charged with rape and murder of Dalit woman in India

  Four men have been charged with the gang-rape and murder of a 19-year-old Dalit woman in   India , a case that prompted nationwide protests and drew a fresh spotlight on India’s endemic problem of sexual violence. In September in Hathras, a small village in Uttar Pradesh, the 19-year-old woman was working in the fields when she was pounced on by four older men who dragged her to a field, attacked her and then tried to strangle her with her shawl. The charge sheet filed by the central bureau of investigation on Friday confirmed the girl was gang-raped and four men have been charged with her murder. The girl was a Dalit, India’s lowest caste, formerly known as “untouchables”, while her four alleged attackers were from a higher caste.
